Frequently Asked Questions
What is required to use a Zoom Phone?
- An active Arcadia network account
- The Zoom app (logged in with SSO to University Zoom account)
- An internet connection
It is also possible for a department to get a telephone handset for a common area or reception center that multiple people can use.
Will Caller ID work for internal and external calls?
Yes. Learn more about Zoom Phone and caller ID here.
How will I access my voicemail?
You will use your zoom application on your computer to pick up voicemail messages.
Will calls in Zoom interrupt my meetings?
No. You can hide notifications of incoming calls anytime you wish, or instead choose to let the call arrive and choose whether to send it directly to voicemail, put your meeting on hold to answer it, or even merge it into the meeting you are having.
How do I get help with an issue setting up or using a Zoom Phone?
Call the IT Helpdesk or email helpdesk@arcadia.edu for assistance.
Does zoom use data on your phone?
Zoom uses internet data. For it to work you need an internet connection over broadband internet or through a mobile data plan. You can also use a headset attached to your computer to answer or make calls from your Zoom app. As long as you are connected to a WiFi network, your private mobile data plan should not be impacted. Your mobile data plan would have bandwidth consumed if you lost WIFI coverage while using Zoom phone.
Respondus – Instructor Live Proctoring, Respondus 4.0, Lockdown Browser & Monitor
Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are now available on the course navigation in each Canvas course.
How LockDown Browser Works:
In a Canvas exam (Quiz), LockDown Browser locks down the testing environment to limit students from accessing other pages during the assessment and Respondus Monitor uses the students webcam to record them and flag activity for the instructor to review.
- Assessments are displayed full-screen and cannot be minimized
- Browser menu and toolbar options are removed, except for Back, Forward, Refresh and Stop
- Prevents access to other applications including messaging, screen-sharing, virtual machines, and remote desktops
- Printing and screen capture functions are disabled
- Copying and pasting anything to or from an assessment is prevented
- Right-click menu options, function keys, keyboard shortcuts and task switching are disabled
- An assessment cannot be exited until the student submits it for grading
- For your students to use LockDown Browser, they will need to download and install LockDown Browser on their own devices. Please provide them with this link so they can install it. Installation Link for Students
Respondus 4.0 – Create and Manage Online Assessments
- Exams can be created offline using Microsoft Word, through a Windows computer and imported into to Canvas.
- Download and install the software to create test banks and upload tests created in Word (Please login with your Arcadia Credentials). Instructions can be found here.
- Additional support using Respondus 4.0
Instructor Live Proctoring
- The new “Instructor Live Proctoring” option uses LockDown Browser to prevent cheating on the computer itself, while the instructor watches students via (Zoom) video conferencing. Overview of Instructor Live Proctoring
- **Please note that Respondus Monitor and “Instructor Live Proctoring” are two separate tools. Respondus Monitor is best for asynchronous classes and will not allow the instructor to view the students in real time while “Instructor Live Proctoring” is a live session that does not record
