Arcadia Community,
For the past few years, the University has used SentinelOne as its endpoint detection and response (EDR) tool. EDR can be thought of essentially as a stronger version of antivirus software that allows us to not only detect security incidents, but resolve them all on one platform.
We plan to migrate away from SentinelOne as our EDR solution and begin using Microsoft Defender. Both tools are industry leaders in EDR and provide top-level protection for our endpoints and servers. Moving to Defender will allow us to have better oversight of our endpoints under a single pane of glass, as it connects with our other suite of Microsoft tools used for managing our inventory of devices.
Responding to an incident will look similar, and the outcome of the detection of malicious software or files on your device will look the same. We have included what to expect as well as other important details below.
Timeline:
SentinelOne uninstall begins: April 15th
Install of Defender begins: April 15th
If you still have SentinelOne after April 20th, we will reach out to you
How this impacts you:
You do not need to uninstall or install any software. We are able to do this remotely from the management console.
You may need to reboot your computer after SentinelOne uninstalls.
If there is an issue with the install/uninstall process, our team is prepared to help you with this process manually.
What to expect/What you need to do:
You will no longer have the SentinelOne agent
Notifications for security incidents on your device will look different
